HYSTORICAL BACKGROUND
The second representative series of the Alfa Spider "Duetto" was presented at the Turin Motor Show in 1969, and the peculiar difference compared to its first series is the "cutting of the tail", according to the new theories of aerodynamics of those years.
According to the new discoveries, thanks to the truncated tail, the rear air vortices suddenly detached themselves from the car body, thus causing a greater advancement.
As a consequence, other parts of the vehicle were modified, first of all the bumpers, made of stainless steel and with a protective rubber profile, a greater inclination was given to the windscreen, with the benefit of design and aerodynamics.
The canvas soft top was also revised and improved, with completely internal bindings to the body, for greater impermeability and ease of use.
The total length of the car dropped from 4.25 m to 4.12 m.
From 1972 the 1600 cc engine was reintroduced, powered by 2 horizontal double body carburettors.
